BECOME A MENTOR

It is important to know that volunteers, parents and children are carefully screened to help develop program objectives. Youngsters who do not express a genuine interest in our program, or who present problems beyond our volunteers’ capabilities, are referred for more appropriate social services.

Your participation and support of our efforts to mentor youngsters is very instrumental to the success of this valuable program and our community. As with all ministries of the Greater Allen Cathedral, your dedication will be welcomed and appreciated.

Mentoring takes place a minimum of 5 hours per month on and off-site for at least one year. On-site mentoring occurs on a specific day and time and is always under the direct supervision of a trained site coordinator. Trainings for the Allen Mentoring program are held throughout the year and no mentor is matched with a youngster until they have been successfully screened and trained.

For further information please contact the Program Director, Rodeena Stephens or Client Coordinator, Ms. McDonald at 718.206.9884. Download a copy of the
